JKHRO Updates Verified Civilian Death Toll to 89 Following Ongoing Casualty Verification
The Jammu Kashmir Human Rights Observatory (JKHRO) has released an updated casualty record documenting reported civilian deaths connected with the unrest in Pakistan-administered Azad Jammu & Kashmir between 27 July and 5 August 2026.

The Jammu Kashmir Human Rights Observatory (JKHRO) has issued an updated casualty record covering reported deaths connected with the unrest from 27 July to 5 August 2026.
The latest verification adds three newly confirmed cases to the Muzaffarabad record: Mir Fayyaz, who died on 31 July; Raja Iqbal Khan, who died on 2 August after reportedly being injured in firing in the Plate area of Muzaffarabad; and Raja Ahsan, son of Aftab, from Mandkroo, Neelum Valley, whose death was recorded on 2 August in Athmuqam.
With these additions, JKHRO’s current figures record 45 verified deaths from 27 July onward, comprising 37 linked to the Rawalakot incidents, three in Mirpur, four in Muzaffarabad and one in Bhimber.
These are in addition to 44 previously verified civilian deaths recorded between 5 June and 26 July 2026, bringing the overall verified death toll to 89.
A further four cases remain unconfirmed, one each from Rawalakot, Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Kotli. This brings the total number of reported cases, including those awaiting verification, to 93.
JKHRO says verification remains ongoing and that figures may be updated as additional field information and supporting evidence become available.
