JKHRO Updates Fatality Figures: 86 Confirmed Deaths Since 5 June, 91 Reported Cases Under Review
The Jammu Kashmir Human Rights Observatory (JKHRO) has updated its list of fatalities following the verification of new information and a review of previously recorded cases relating to the events that have unfolded since 27 July.
Compared with the previous list, the confirmed cases of Commander Farooq, Nauman Ishaq, Shafaat Hussain (Bhimber), and Mueed Khan (Muzaffarabad) have now been added.
The name of Inayatullah, the mosque imam, has been removed after it was confirmed that he is alive. One previously unverified case from Rawalakot has also been removed from the list.
Meanwhile, two cases from Muzaffarabad, one from Rawalakot, one from Mirpur, and one from Kotli remain under verification.
Current Figures
42 confirmed fatalities have been recorded in connection with the events since 27 July.
5 additional cases remain under verification.
When combined with the 44 previously confirmed fatalities recorded between 5 June and 26 July, the total number of confirmed deaths stands at 86.
Including the cases still under verification, the total reported death toll stands at 91.
